Le Meridien Hotels & Resorts

Le Meridien was  purchased  by  Nomura  International plc's Principal Finance Group in July 2001 and merged with Principal Hotels, acquired by Nomura in February 2001. Nomura Finance later sold the chain to Lehman Brothers.

At the time Le Meridien were chosen as consultants for technical specifications of the hotel, it had a wide network of 144 upscale hotels located in the majority of world's top business and leisure destinations in over 57 countries.

The chain was a truly  International   Hotel group  providing  a   European  style & individual character with genuine respect for local culture and tradition.

Le Meridien  was  the largest  international hotel operator in India (with 6 hotels open and  a further  2 under  development ) in 1999 and was the first international chain to effectively fully manage hotels in this market.

In 2006, Starwood bought over the Le Meridien chain. In October 2008 the resort de-branded and is now known as Gokarna Forest Resort.

Courses designed by Gleneagles Golf Developments are Gokarna Golf Resort, Kathmandu, Nepal; Bandon Dunes, Oregon USA ; and Golf de Andratx, Camp de Mar, Mallorca. The company currently has projects at the routing stage at Powerscourt, Ireland and Holwood Park, England, and is in discussion with clients on projects in the United States, South Africa, Italy and Spain which are likely to start in 1999.

Ian Ferrier , Managing Director of Gleneagles Golf Developments , has enjoyed a career of over 20years in leisure development and marketing at Gleneagles in Scotland and was the driving force behind the formation of Gleneagles Golf Developments in 1991.

Design Cell Pvt. Ltd. is a design and project management firm based in Nepal and specializes in the design of tourism related and commercial facilities. The scope of work at Gokarna Forest Golf Resort and Spa includes the redesign of the overall services and masterplan improvements, a 50 room extension wing as well as specialized facilities including Pool Complex and Spa, Golf Club House and ancillary facilities. Initial Architects for the project, internationally known Romi Khosla is a consultant to the United Nations for their development programme based in Egypt, Central Asia and Tibet.His work with the Aga Khan Trust for Culture has taken him to Turkey, Indonesia,Singapore and Qatar. He is also the Heritage Conservation consultant to UNESCO for their renewal projects in Samarkand and Bukhara.

Romi Khosla heads a medium sized design consultancy that engages in building design and construction management.

His team of designers worked in Kathmandu where special care was taken to safeguard the forest environment while they developed the hotel design in such a manner as to reflect the finest qualities and styles of the traditional buildings in the historic areas of the Kathmandu valley
